The Unbearable Pain

This pain, unbearable it feels Yet every time, I survive through it It is nothing much though Just an unfertilized egg, getting disposed Society's words keep ringing in my mind "Women are fragile and weak" How? I never understand Inevitable torment, every month they bear Drains off their strength, during that while The crushing pain, they feel in their bones The tightening of waist by a pricking rope Their belly feels like an indiffusible bomb Yearning to burst out, yet without a sound Their abdomen, as though was only meant to impart pain Needles piercing through the body, was what it felt Their legs feel, as though paralyzed for a day Their body goes numb, due to enduring the whole bulk of pain After bearing all this, they still say "Women are fragile and weak"? Like a submerged glacier, is their strength hidden And so you remark them delicate? 'Spread awareness, periods are nothing to be ashamed about'

Religion, A Taboo These Days?

We divide ourselves based on which religion we belong, and yet every single one of us follows only one religion, ‘Modernity’.  We are tied by the rope of modernism , naming it as ‘freedom’. These days, religion is just for name sake. It is like you claim to the best chef and yet you don’t know, what ingredients make a great dish. Why is religious violence increasing, when in reality, there are hardly a few people following the religious morals?  We feel ashamed about our religions, as simple and straight as that. Had it been we were proud of our religions, we would’ve put up our heads high and practiced it without any worries of being judged. We fear being judged as ‘old-fashioned’, we fear not being accepted in the society and that is the reason why we leave our religions behind, except if you are an atheist. We want others to respect us and our religion, but wait. We hardly respect the background we belong to, we hardly respect the leaders of our community, we hardly respect o

Artificial Sweeteners

Artificial sweeteners has been a major content in our diets. Ranging from teens to grownups, artificial sweeteners is consumed in one form or the other. Some of the artificial sweeteners approved by Food Safety and Security Authority of India (FSSAI) are: Saccharin sodium, Aspartame (methyl ester), Acesulfame potassium, Sucralose and Neotame. These are used in the manufacturing of soft drinks, diet foods and mainly sugar-free items. It is important for us to know its effect on human body. The sweetness of sugar, can be substituted by organic, inorganic and synthetic compounds that have a similar taste. The taste bud receptors on our tongue, that perceives the sweet taste are known as Senomyx. These receptors, recognize the sweet taste of the artificial sweeteners as sugar sweetness and sends a signal to the brain, saying something sweet(high-calorie food) is being eaten. However, these artificial sweeteners are low calorie products, which cannot be metabolized by our body. T

Incomplete Tale (Short story)

“Hey” she greeted him, with a wide smile drawn over her face. He seemed to be lost, deep in thoughts. “Hello,” she said again, a little louder this time. It was then, he replied “Oh, hi!”, looking completely drained off.  “Umm... I actually came to say that my project didn’t work out” she said in a low voice. “Don’t worry, it’ll work out. Just keep trying” he said, looking away. “Yeah” she paused, scrutinizing his condition, she hesitantly asked, “And…how’s life going on?” “I don’t know” was all he replied. “I’m all ears,” she said, as she took a seat beside him, giving her ‘are-you-serious’ look. “I am dead serious” she stated. He wondered if she could read his mind. He knew she wouldn’t break his trust and so he started narrating his story. Suddenly, her phone began to ring. ‘Dad’, the caller id read. “Just a second,” she said to him and accepted the call while he patiently waited for the call to end. “Oh, okay. I’m on my way” she said over the phone ca
