Thoughts unheard

Hidden feelings, rotten emotions Broken ties, there's another loose thread I looked upon the sky Thinking where I lost But there was this fresh air That always mocked. Like sand and water Everything slipped from my hands Even when I tried holding on I never had a say in that. I lied to myself That everything would be fine Perhaps in a day, a week or a year Or sometime in my life. But it was just a nostalgia That I was treating myself into Little did I know That everything was supposed to drift apart And everything was supposed to vanish.

Defying The Teacher

“What the hell!!! How could you finish your lunch without giving it to me? You knew it was my favorite” Soofia screamed, catching hold of Mehvish’s neck. “SOOFIA! You don’t want to go to jail by doing that” Mehvish exaggerated by moving vigorously.   It was Ameena’s usual behavior, whenever she gets angry on someone, she would hold their neck and shake them a bit. However, the best of our teachers, Mrs. Faroza, wasn’t aware of this. She was literally the best! Best means 'THE BEST' . Don't miss the heavy sarcasm. As Soofia and Mehvish were carrying on their drama, we sat back, enjoying it until Mrs. Faroza stepped in. “Oh my GOD” she stared, as though her eyeballs might pop out any moment. “You are attempting a murder, Soofia?” she yelled, putting down the pile of books she was holding. “No no ma’am, we were just playing” Mehvish jumped in. “Don’t take her side Mehvish, I know she was trying to kill you” The second she ended her sentence, all of us burs

Forever or Is it?

You were what I wished for, Your smiles lit up my world, Looking back, there are tears in my eyes... For all the memories we shared And for all that we didn't,        Alas time ran out for you. Indeed life is unfair, After all, I lost the one thing I loved. You promised that you will be there for me always Why then did you leave? People say time will heal, But I ask ,why cause the wound? I try to convince myself that I shall be fine But who am I kidding? With names you called me, But now you are just a name in my life. I miss the warmth of your hugs; the love in your words,  they made me feel safe That wherever I was You'll be there for me always But you didn't... And you will never know What I went throug h after you left My world stopped when I realised, My forever with you was just a dream. But I do know, The brightest star in the sky is you, Watching over me now and smiling, mumbling that I am the biggest d

Usha's Last Ride - A True Incident

A few months ago, a Traffic Police Inspector’s ego claimed the life of the 34-year-old Usha in Ganesha roundabout opposite BHEL headquarters in Trichy. Usha and her husband Raja (40) were en route to a colleague’s wedding when Inspector Kamaraj stopped them. The couple initially thought of taking a bus from Papanasam but later voted against it. Thinking it would be a hassle taking the wet grinder, they bought as a present in a bus the couple decided to travel by bike. Unfortunately. The bike ride turned out to be Usha’s last. Dhinakaran, Usha’s brother in law was quoted saying, “ The police first stopped them on the Tiruchy Thanjavur highway and demanded to know why he was not wearing a helmet. They argued back and forth for 10 minutes with an Inspector called Kamaraj, who then walked away. Raja thought the matter was over and started to ride away. Seeing this, the cop got very angry and began to chase them on another bike.” Kamaraj is said to have allegedly caught Raja’s shirt

Thankfulness - An Episode from The Prophet's Life

First you need to be grateful for what you have, only then you’ll be granted as per your heart’s desire.   The following is an episode of our beloved Prophet Mohammed صَÙ„َّÙ‰ اللّٰÙ‡ُ عَÙ„َÙŠْÙ‡ِ ÙˆَسَÙ„َّÙ…َ  I've heard about: *** Once, a poor man approached Prophet Mohammed صَÙ„َّÙ‰ اللّٰÙ‡ُ عَÙ„َÙŠْÙ‡ِ ÙˆَسَÙ„َّÙ…َ . All he owned was a cloak that covered his body. He complained to Prophet Mohammed صَÙ„َّÙ‰ اللّٰÙ‡ُ عَÙ„َÙŠْÙ‡ِ      ÙˆَسَÙ„َّÙ…َ “If Allah is so merciful, why doesn’t he give me the basic needs to survive?”. Prophet Mohammed first asked him to be thankful for what he had. Instead, the man got furious and replied “What should I be thankful for? What do I have to be thankful about?   I have no clothes, no home, no food, nothing at all!”. Prophet Mohammed again repeated the same line ‘Be thankful for what you have now’. The man’s response was the same, again. Just then, there was a strong gush of wind, which carried away the only thing he had, his cloak. And now, he stood the

Moon memories (A Tale)

Moon Memories  I took you to my favorite restaurant, on our first date and that was the first mistake. Now, the food there tastes like you. Then you bought me my favorite scented candle on my birthday and now my apartment smells like you too. I can't wear the sweater I wore on that day, we sat on the dock to watch the moon. I can't seem to move without running into a memory of you. And goddamn I wish my heart was a cassette tape, that these memories could be erased and overwritten. And maybe I could replace a restaurant or a scent or a sweater. But I can't move the moon. And maybe I don't really want to. Maybe there's a part of me that likes the way you still hang over my head. And someday when I am ready the moon will just become the moon again. _Inked

Dua (Poem)

Dua Tere laut ane ki dua nahi karta mai Bas tu jahan ho, wahan khush rehne ki karta hun Tera dedaar ho mujhe, yeh dua nahi manga mai Tu jise dekhna chahe, uska dedar tujhe naseeb ho, yeh dua karta hun Tu hamesha muskurahate rahe, yeh dua nahi karta mai Bas teri har muskurahat dil se ho, yeh dua karta hun Tere jane ka ghum kam hojaye, yeh dua nahi mangta mai Bas meri kami tujhe kabhi mehsus na ho, bas yeh dua karta rehta hun _Guzi

Justice For An Animal

In a world where human beings die to get justice, demanding justice for a innocent animal is way too selfish, yeah? ------- “Huh? What? Okay.” My brother said over the phone and turned towards me, “Waleed called, he asked me and you to his home and stay with his sisters for a while. Something urgent, it seems.”, he said. “Oh, okay. I hope Sherry is fine” I rushed, closing my work. Just as we were about to leave, mom called out “Where are you going?”.  “Waleed called and asked us to go check on his sisters. They must’ve found Sherry, probably it’s wounded. We’ll go, check and let you know” I replied. “Oh… Sherry is such a great cat, take her to the veterinary clinic right away,  if needed.” And with that, we closed the door behind us and rushed upstairs,  to their home and rang the bell. One ring, two rings, no response. We waited for 5 minutes and rang the bell again. “Hi Manha…hey are you alright?” my tone suddenly changed,  seeing her red, puffed up eyes. “

Perky Lass

A perky lass, cheerful and bliss Words flowing, not one but many It's just cute! She says, when asked if her nose is sharp? little left to imagine; Amor it could lead to. I'm a free bird! She says, With a glint in her eyes As a smile creeps up her lips Enough to leave one, die a thousand deaths And spring back, asking for more.

He sprinted up the stairs on seeing a crowded lift. He saw her sister sitting outside as he halted to catch his breath. Tears rolled down her cheeks as soon as she saw him; she introduced him to her parents. Her parents were shaken and so was he. They walked towards the room. From the window, he peeked inside. One look at her and those beautiful days he had spent with her flashed back in his mind. "Can I go inside?" he asked the nurse who exited the room. "Only one at a time," she said. He went inside. She lay there with needles pierced on her arms. His heart shattered into a million pieces seeing her in this condition. He went near her and held her hands. They were soft and cold. He called out her name hoping she would hear. He sat beside her speaking about the times they spent together. She did not respond but tears rolled down her cheeks. Wiping those tears he assured her that everything will be "After you get alright, we'll go grab your f

"Welcome to Mumbai beta," his uncle came to pick them up from the airport. Two days passed, they missed each other. He got busy with marriage works. Morning, on the way to the marriage hall, he got a call from her sister. "Would it be possible for you to come back here today?" she asked him, he could hear her sobbing. "What happened? ," he asked her. "Asra fainted, we've admitted her in a hospital," she said. "I'll try to return soon, please keep me updated on her," he told her. Time passed too slow. He stared at his phone hoping that she was alright. That evening he got a call from her sister. "I-I d-don't k-know how t-to say" she stammered. "Please tell me she is alright" he screamed over the phone. "Asra has cancer, the doctor said it's in stage 3. She will be treated day after tomorrow" she cried uncontrollably. Tears rolled down his eyes, his world shattered. He

Days flew by. She opened it up to her sister about him. She agreed to talk to her parents about their love. Everything was perfect. Nothing could have gone wrong, or that was what they thought. "I am going to Mumbai for a relative's marriage" he informed her one fine evening. "Is it necessary, that you should go?" she asked. Her sadness was quite clear. "Tickets have been booked, it's just a week and I'll be back to my baby" he tried to make her smile. The one thing he hated was to see his girl in despair. He could understand it clearly from her voice how hard it was for her but he had to go. With many efforts, he convinced her that he'll be back in a couple of days. "Pack everything soon, the flight is at 2 P.M." his mom shouted running up and down around the house. The house was in chaos. Once he was done with packing his luggage he threw his weight on the bed and hurriedly dialled her number. She attended the c

Days passed by. Exams were round the corner. Everyone rushed up and down with books in their hands and so did they. Not a day passed when they didn't see one another and nor did a night crawl without each other's thoughts. Exams were followed by holidays. She had to leave for her hometown. They both dreaded the holidays. The mere thought of a month without meeting the other was devastating. The next morning, with a heavy heart she sat inside the cab. "Airport please," she told the driver staring at her phone. She stepped out of the cab; turned back after paying the driver just to find him standing right behind. "You look lovely as always," he said smiling at her. Her lips curved into a smile. Tears flowed down their cheeks. He tried to hide it and so did she. He cried, she cried, they both cried... Finally, the bell rang. He rushed out to the corridor to check the other classrooms. There she was in the class next to his. He hid behind the wi

"Never seen a girl before?" she asked as she came towards him. It was the first day of school, he was with his group of friends and so was she. "N-no I-I w-was n-not looking at you" he stammered trying to hide the obvious. He looked away avoiding contact with her eyes. "I expected a filmy dialogue," she said laughing at his nervousness. Her voice was so melodious that a Nightingale would be put to shame. He smiled, she laughed, everyone laughed... Day's passed by, stealing glances at each other. The more they looked into each other's eyes, the more they fell in love. "CCD evening after class?" he wrote on a piece of paper and placed it on top of her desk as he passed by. He walked hastily without a pause till he reached his desk. Sitting down his eyes gazed at her. She clutched the piece of paper tightly in her hand and turned back. Their eyes met. Blood rushed to her cheeks and then a sly smile crept up her lips. She turne

The first day at school, love, at first sight, you might say, they knew deep inside what it was. life went well, joy-filled. so serene it seemed... so inseparable they were, two bodies but one soul till one day, life had something in store for them... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "What the... you look like shit Hameed," I told him, shaking his shoulders vigorously. "Long story," he said as we walked towards a shop. On seeing him the shopkeeper pulled out a pack of Marlboro and tossed it. He pulled out one from the pack looking at me. I hurled the lighter at him. It hit his head as he stood there motionless. "Kya hua bhai," the shopkeeper asked him laughing. It was our usual smoking joint, where once a horde would sit together emptying packets after packets. Now it was just us left. He picked up the lighter and lit his cigarette without

Wadaa/Promise (Poem)

Wadaa Sau dafa tujhse rubaro hokar, sau dafa khud se anjan hua hun Beparwa mizaaj hone ke bawajood, hamesha tujhe khone se darta hun Mukammal lafzon mein apni adhori kahani ka aksar zikr karta rehta hun Har baar tere bare mein na likhne ka wadaa karke, waraq palat kar phir tere hi bare mein likhne lagta hun Translation : Promise  A hundred times, I've become a stranger to myself, after I met you Despite having a careless attitude, I always worried about losing you I often mention bits of our incomplete story in complete phrases Every single time, I promise myself not to write about you Then I turn the page And start writing, about you, again.

Weird Mother's Day Celebration

Mother’s Day in Yugoslavia Yugoslavia is a country in Southern and Central Europe. Mother’s day celebration here, might be the weirdest one you’ll ever hear in your life. It is celebrated in the month of December. The traditional way of celebrating this occasion is that, early morning on mother’s day, children creep in their parent’s room and tie up their mother. Now, in order to be released, the mother has to promise them to give the children gifts she had hidden from them. People of Yugoslavia consider this tradition as harmless way to bring smiles on their faces.

Unsuccessful-ness in The View Of Islam

Sometimes, why do we fail even after putting in a lot of effort and hard work? No matter how much we try, it just feels impossible to achieve that goal we’ve been dying for, why does that happen? Yes, you’re right. That does happen. You do everything demanded yet you can’t succeed. Now, if you look at this situation, you might just feel ‘it’s worthless to put in efforts’, but Allah does not let his slave’s hard work, knowledge and efforts go in vain, ever. Then, why? It’s because The Almighty might be upset with you. You might have started doing a new deed which is not liked by Allah (Gunah), or you might have stopped doing a good one. That’s where one goes wrong. Check yourself, where did you change, what went wrong with your deeds. Allah loves you more than seventy mother’s love together, do you really think he would even like to see you in distress? Obviously not! Your failure, your problems, your distress, everything unpleasant in your life, is an indication

Time Changes Everything

‘Everything happens for a good cause’ an age-old saying, that we often refrain ourselves from believing it. The most unfortunate events that we face are to be held responsible for this. When something you wanted, doesn’t come along your way, you’d obviously feel rage burning up on the highest peak and you start blaming your fate for it. It is completely fine to distress over the unfortunate events. You are absolutely right when you say that it shattered you in pieces but yes, that unfortunate event did happen for a good cause. Right at the moment, you might not know why, let some time pass and you’ll understand. There are two sides to every story, you might not be aware of the other side. Just hold onto broken self. Don’t try to resist what you feel, the feeling will just get stronger.  When life is like a colloid, just wait till the suspended particles settle down at the bottom. I know it’s next to impossible to have patience in devastating situations, but that is one of the

Jarvis: Blackberry's Cyber Security Tool

Image
BlackBerry unveiled a new cybersecurity tool called BlackBerry Jarvis for automakers. BlackBerry Jarvis will scan all the software components in an autonomous vehicle, predict and fix vulnerabilities in real time. BlackBerry Jarvis aims to help automakers with safety backups as they develop the software for self-driving cars. At the North American International Automotive Show (NAIAS) BlackBerry Executive Chairman and CEO, John Chen said, “Jarvis scans and delivers deep actionable insights in minutes, what would otherwise involve manually scanning that will take large numbers of experts and an impractical amount of time.” BlackBerry has already let Jarvis out on trials with some of the world’s leading automakers. The CEO of Jaguar Land Rover Ralf Speth said, “Jaguar Land Rover and BlackBerry share a common objective in bringing the most intelligent vehicles to reality.” Speth further added, “In our independent study, Jarvis delivered excellent efficiencies in time to market, s

Sridevi And The Bathtub Conspiracies

Image
Imagine turning on your T.V., to a “well-proclaimed reporter” lying in a bathtub and enacting veteran actress Sridevi Kapoor’s accidental drowning. The days where media houses and T.V., channels delivered authentic news are long gone. Today, one can count just on their hands the number of media houses working for a cause. Nowadays, most media houses and T.V., channels just work for Target Rating Point (TRP) and money. Sridevi along with her husband Boney Kapoor and youngest daughter Khushi were in Dubai, UAE to attend nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. Boney returned to Mumbai in India after the wedding. Later, he decided to come back to Dubai and surprise her. Boney, on reaching the hotel room woke her up from slumber and after a small talk, she entered the bathroom. Fifteen minutes later, Boney knocked on the door and got no response. Boney forced open the door only to see her mortal remains in the bathtub. The Dubai police revealed it was an accidental drowning and ruled out

The 361 Year Old Jama Masjid Screams For Repairs

The historic Jama Masjid screams for repairs with parts of its external facade and internal structure crumbling. The Jama Masjid dates back to the 17th century. It was then named Masjid-i Jahan-Numa. The construction for the grand 361 year old Masjid started in 1648 after the completion of Shahjahanabad. The construction went on for 6 whole years and cost Rs. 10 lakh back then. The Jama Masjid is one of the largest Masjids in India. The Jama Masjid is also known as the centerpiece of the heritage city of Shahjahanabad. The 361 year old Jama Masjid is threatened by rampant water seepage which has eroded the structural integrity of the main dome. Colonization In Mars - A Possibility?

Earthworms are actually vital for the survival of a garden ecosystem. The scientists at Wageningen University and Research, Netherlands, successfully grew earthworms in a Mars soil simulant. This could be a major step towards colonization of the Red Planet and good news for aspiring Martian farmers. Wieger Wamelink of Wageningen University and Research stated the earthworms were active in the Mars soil simulant. The experiment consisted of growing rucola plants in a manure mix composed of pig slurry added to the Martian soil simulant. Martian soil simulant is a really important tool for researching Mars missions. It was developed by NASA based on data obtained by the Mars rovers and the orbiters. This composition is as close to the material on Mars. Earthworms thrive on the dead organic matter such as the old plant remains, which they eat and mix with the soil. These worms improve the very structure of the soil by reprocessing the organic matter through their waste cycle and b
