Thankfulness - An Episode from The Prophet's Life

First you need to be grateful for what you have, only then you’ll be granted as per your heart’s desire.

The following is an episode of our beloved Prophet Mohammed صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ I've heard about:

***

Once, a poor man approached Prophet Mohammed صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. All he owned was a cloak that covered his body. He complained to Prophet Mohammed صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ    وَسَلَّمَ “If Allah is so merciful, why doesn’t he give me the basic needs to survive?”. Prophet Mohammed first asked him to be thankful for what he had. Instead, the man got furious and replied “What should I be thankful for? What do I have to be thankful about?  I have no clothes, no home, no food, nothing at all!”.

Prophet Mohammed again repeated the same line ‘Be thankful for what you have now’. The man’s response was the same, again. Just then, there was a strong gush of wind, which carried away the only thing he had, his cloak. And now, he stood there, with no piece of cloth covering his body.

Being thankful for what you have, impresses Allah. And when Allah is happy with you, there is nothing that stops Him from showering his blessings on you.

Let this Ramadhan make a difference in your life, start doing a deed Allah loves and try your best to eliminate a bad one that Allah dislikes.

Indeed, Allah is the most merciful, the most beneficial and the most forgiving.

We have come from Allah and we will be returned to him.

May Allah shower the best of blessings on us and may all our sins be forgiven. May Allah forgive me if I had made any mistake in here.

Ameen
