Religion, A Taboo These Days?

We divide ourselves based on which religion we belong, and yet every single one of us follows only one religion, ‘Modernity’.  We are tied by the rope of modernism , naming it as ‘freedom’. These days, religion is just for name sake. It is like you claim to the best chef and yet you don’t know, what ingredients make a great dish. Why is religious violence increasing, when in reality, there are hardly a few people following the religious morals?

We feel ashamed about our religions, as simple and straight as that. Had it been we were proud of our religions, we would’ve put up our heads high and practiced it without any worries of being judged. We fear being judged as ‘old-fashioned’, we fear not being accepted in the society and that is the reason why we leave our religions behind, except if you are an atheist. We want others to respect us and our religion, but wait. We hardly respect the background we belong to, we hardly respect the leaders of our community, we hardly respect our own religions, then how can you expect a person from a completely different place, to respect you?

There’s nothing wrong in being traditional. You are only following your ethical values, let the others know what you are and where you belong. Yes, you will stand out from the rest and maybe you will seem a little outdated, but think of it this way ‘What’s the fun in doing something that everyone is doing?’.
You will just be another sheep in the herd no one cares about. Accepting where you belong is not something to be ashamed of. You need not become a saint or you need not to shut off the world to follow your morals. All you need to do, is stop caring to fit in the modern world. The world would’ve been a boring place without variations.

Before creating violence in the name of religion, let’s first understand, that no religion teaches barbarism. It’s not only the change we need to bring out in the world, sometimes we need to preserve what we have. We need to respect ourselves first, it is only then someone else can.
